Laconia Kiwanis's premier program is KARES (Kids and Reading Equals Success).  Laconia Kiwanis designed KARES in 2002.  We work in conjunction with the local elementary Media Specialist, 3rd grade teachers and all 3rd graders throughout the school year. Yearly we budget $3,000 towards the purchase of the books chosen by the elementary educators. Three times yearly our fellow Kiwanians and Kiwanis friends read to the students, we enjoy assigned projects with the students, donate snack treats for the students and each 3rd grade student will choose two books with each visit to take home for their pleasure. Our goal is to make reading fun and beneficial towards their everyday life.

In March 2023, Kiwanis Free Throw Competition offered a free and fun program for children ages 7 through 13 with the help of many volunteers and local businesses in the Lakes Region inclusive of Lou Athanas Youth Basketball League, fifty-two children participated in the program. The young boys and girls enjoyed the competition along with the many donated gifts, prizes and raffles made available to all the children.

This May 2023, Kiwanis Laconia held Bike 'n' Board Safety Day.  This being our first year to include safety helmets not only for bicyclists, also included were children with skateboards and scooters. The Laconia Police Department provided new helmets fitted safely for children and adults. Bike registrations, bike and board inspections, skills and practice stations, free give away of bike, skateboard and scooter.  Refreshments and goodies were provided to the families.

Laconia Kiwanis is all about supporting and promoting youth programs and youth needs in the Lakes Region - supporting Little League, Laconia Youth Soccer League, Lou Athanas Youth Basketball League Boys & Girls Club, Laconia High School Key Club, Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation, Central NH VNA & Hospice Pediatric Care, The Circle & Mayhew Program and more...

KIWANIS is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time! Hence, this current raffle continues to provide funding for the children in the Lakes Region!

When you purchase a $10 ticket, you will have the opportunity to win $250 of NH Lottery Scratch Tickets!

The ticket sale end on June 29, 2023, at 6:00 pm. The drawing will be held on June 30, 2023, at 4:00
pm at the Irwin Toyota Showroom, Laconia, NH.
